Bernie Schwab - Spruce Valley Payroll
Who likes to get paid?  You can raise your hand even though no one is around... it is ok... this is a safe place.

This weeks speaker knows all about this feeling and has made it his career to provide the best experience for employers in a specialized way.

Please join me in welcoming Bernie Schwab to our club - click on his name for a great bio that I am not going to try to replicate
Inside "The Board"
I do love the beginning of the year.  There seems to be a fresh start every year and with it fresh ideas.  This was a main theme from The Board meeting this past Tuesday.  I could take up an entire The Source with what was discussed at the meeting in its entirety.  I will not subject you to that but I do want to make sure I give you a full view as well.

  • Training, training, training
    • There are a couple of training opportunities your board will be attending to ensure the efficiency of this club can continue to increase and allow for new opportunities as we move forward in 2019
      • 1st is the NCPETS training in Iowa - this is for the President Elect to start to familiarize themselves with the Presidential items that they will be seeing in their year - an important item is the goals that are set up for the club (Mike Becker made a large emphasis on this at December's Board meeting)
      • 2nd is the Grant's training - this is going to happen!
        • Janie and I will be attending this on 3/23/19 - This is extremely important because we can then apply for grants which can in turn lead to larger projects considered due to a larger budget to work with - start thinking of ideas :)
  • Ramble Jam  Yes, RJ is not until 9/13 but RJ never sleeps
    • Monthly meetings will be starting in February - last meeting was 1/16/19
    • Offers have been made to all the talent and now we have to play a little waiting game - we will need to make a decision on whether or not we want a 2pm opener this year (personally I don't even have a buzz by then)
    • Sponsorships - this has been and will continue to be a huge emphasis of RJ and we as a club need to do as much as we can to bring in new and old sponsors
      • There is an idea floating around that I feel will be a large help for this and it will be discussed in a little bit
  • Membership
    • I told you this would be discussed in a little bit
    • New membership packets should be handed out at the 1/17/19 meeting - your mission, if/when you choose to accept it, is to bring in 1 more person that you think will be a great asset to Farmington Rotary
      • The thought is economics of scale - click on the link for definition
      • The more Rotarian minded people we can bring in, and with it their network, we can kill this sponsorship goal
  • Service projects - see Fun with Rotary below.  There is also a set date for the next 5:01 club! (This is what we call a teaser in the business)
  • We need your Rotary photos!
    • You have probably seen some individuals posting Rotary photos on FB the last couple of days
    • There are talks and connections with Newspapers to get a press release out about Farmington Rotary
    • If you have any photos that involves Rotary, please post them on the FB Rotary members page
That should be good, right? :)
Having fun with Rotary

    • This is a great way to NETWORK as the usual meeting rules for networking don't apply!

Giving Totals for 2018
I have been holding onto this information for a little while now... trying to figure out the best time to spread the news.  The end of the year is approaching and it seems fitting to give the news.

For 2018 we have given back an astonishing $61,203!

Here is the list as of Mid-October which does not account for almost $30,000 we were able to give back to community groups for their raffle sales.  It is amazing how when a group of like-minded, service oriented individuals get together, the amount of giving that can be done.  And don't forget the countless hours each of you have put into this club with service projects and a multitude of items that go into being a Rotarian. Way to go group!

Meeting hosts
A reminder to check the meeting host schedule in the sidebar of The Source to learn when you are scheduled to serve.
Each Rotarian serves as a meeting host one month of the year and is responsible for working with your co-host(s) to do the following:
  • Schedule speakers for your month
  • Arrive early to set up
  • Give the meal count to the kitchen
  • Stay late to take down
Please review the meeting host responsibilities for complete details. Contact Janie if you have questions or a conflict with the month you are assigned.

Thank you Denise & Jamie for hosting this month of June 2019!  We are fortunate to have a great crew in you two to make the first impression wonderful.
