The Open Door is Dakota County’s largest hunger relief organization, powered by neighbors helping neighbors. They make sure everyone who needs it has access to the freshest, healthiest food – delivered with dignity and care. Each month, they serve 25,000 people across Dakota County, and in 2024, they distributed more than 4.5 million pounds of food. They focus solely on fresh, perishable, and nourishing options, with over 75% of the food we distribute being fresh.
This Week: Guatemala Literacy Project
The Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP) is one of the largest grassroots, multi-club, multi-district projects in Rotary. More than 900 clubs and 90 districts have been working together since 1997 to improve education for underserved students in Guatemala. In that time, nearly 330,000 students have been served through four sustainable programs that are tested and proven to work. In 2017, then-RI President Ian Riseley called the GLP “the gold standard of Rotary projects” for its sustainability and impact.
Next Week: Maryann Malec - American Cancer Society
The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
